In French, maçon means mason: one who works with their hands to make things. Every one of our pieces travels through many hands before it finds the ones it was made for.
Our Practice
Carved by Hand,
Cast in Metal
Each piece begins as a sketch on paper. Next, the object is carved by hand, first in wax, then fine-tuned in metal. We work closely with a local foundry to cast the wax carvings in bronze, silver or gold, and each piece is then refined and polished in our studio.

Together
Alex Cohen and Hannah Woodard met in a figure drawing class at RISD in 2008. Two eager freshmen at neighboring easels, learning to make art together. They became close, but the journey was winding and led them apart for a decade.
When they finally found their way back to each other, they married in 2023. Through it all, they never stopped making things for one another. Little objects that kept them connected over many years and miles apart.
That is how Maçon was born. Out of the art they made for each other to express a feeling too vast for language.
